For as long as I can remember, my sister has had a little blue dot in the lobe of one of her ears. I'm responsible, having jammed a pencil into the spot. (I was less than 4 years old at the time and don't remember anything about it.) We're all lucky (but especially my sister, of course) that I missed going into the ear itself.
Marilyn was four years older than me. North Haven had no high school when we were growing up so she went to Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford, to our north, after going to Montowese Elementary School in North Haven. Then she went to New Haven State Teachers College, graduating in 1956, and taught grammar school for a number of years.
She married Charley Esposito on August 10, 1957. After two years living with his parents, they moved to a house that they built in the woods in Northford. They have three children,
Laurie (1960),
Robin (1962), and
Randy (1970).
Charley had been in the Navy and got a CPA degree and worked at a number of jobs. They travelled around with a VW camper club for a while. Marilyn taught Sunday school at St. John's Episcopal Church in North Haven and ran a number of used book stores. Somewhere in the 1990s, they moved to a small house in northeastern Connecticut. After breaking her hip in a fall in late August 2013 (it was a simple fracture), she died suddenly while undergoing rehab.
